Google has announced an interesting new feature for its maps service Maps .

Whether you’re invited to friends, or just coming home, it’s often difficult to predict the exact time of arrival. Thanks to the new feature, the other person can always see how far you have already progressed.

Link only valid until trip end

When navigation is started, you can create a link that is valid for exactly that session.

Function finally available for iOS

If you reach the destination, the release will be terminated. The URL can then be shared via WhatsApp and Co. The recipient will see your picture on the map.

Under Android, the feature has been around for some time. But it’s new for iOS. According to Google, it has now been rolled out and should be seen in the app in the next few hours. More in the announcement blog post .
