Porsche showed the second version of the 911 Speedster

The German company Porsche has two news – good and bad: a delightful concept 911 Speedster will still go into production , but in an extremely limited edition – only 1948 pieces.

But why such a strange circulation? Why exactly 1948 copies? Of course, the fact is that the Porsche brand’s birthday is considered to be June 8, 1948, when the company received a certificate for the first production car – it was the Model 356. This year, on June 8, the Germans presented the conceptual Porsche 911 Speedster, and now at the Paris Motor Show, there was a premiere second version of the car – much more approximate to the conveyor.

It is also important that at the current presentation of the red speedster, Porsche confirmed its serial release – the concept will indeed go into a series, even if only in 1948 copies. True, there are doubts that some trim elements will remain with production cars – for example, platinum mirror housings with black chrome, running lights the same color as the body in the headlights or wheels with a central nut fastening.

The Porsche 911 Speedster is based on the 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet generation 991, but the powerplant and transmission are from the 911 GT3 version: it’s a 4-liter, 500-horsepower, naturally-aspirated six-speed manual and rear-wheel drive. Body – new, with carbon fiber panels, lower and more inclined windshield, gas tank neck in the middle of the trunk lid and a removable hard roof instead of a soft top.
